Spectrofon is a video work wich I've created using a custom made software. The whole video was recoreded in real time, no post processing. The basis of the program is the splitting of incoming sound into ranges. Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) is most suitable for this task. After splitting the incoming signal into frequency ranges, the program is able to visualize these graphically. This process can be done in both ways, converting sound to image, and image to sound are both possible. I also used some sound samples wich had been generated from still images. The generated montage is build up from the texture of distorted images and the rythm of the abstract music.
