Concept
Concentric, tree-like drawings can be found in almost all cultures as a description of the universe, flowing energy, or simply ordinary networks (cities, relationships etc). The route of the flowing electronic current is drawn by pencil: function and form are coupled together in one act. The slowly evolving pictures are creating a complex connectivity between the elements which affects the projected, tree-like fractal imagery and algorithmic sound compositions.

Realization
Instrument for live performance. Designed for drawing lines by a simple pencil, and create sounds and images at the same time. The grafit lines are good electronic conductors, so it is easy to connect and build electric circuits on the fly. When a circuit is closed, it triggers events in sound and the image projection. The finished drawings were put in front of the audience like at an exhibition, so all the process of the whole performance became visible.

The drawing table itself is used as the interface to create sounds, evolving images projected back on the table itself. The analog data (connecting two metal pins on a paper with lines of graphit) is controlling the sound sequence and the incoming data is passed through the other computer, using network protocol. Both sound and image is built with the graphit lines, the chosen pin and the order of connecting are both meaningful and important.
The visual presence of the sound engine is parallel to the table’s structure, so making easier to build the concept
and composition of sound.
