hook me up @ fuori salone

this installation is a collaboration between massimo banzi and me. we demonstrated that analog and virtual devices can be controlled really easily with the arduino shield and pre-assembled sensorkits.

the concept is to devide the system in two separate parts: one for the physical and one for the virtual. two arduino boards/shields were used.

the virtual part is an interactive animation using flash. the connection between the arduino board and flash is made with serial proxy, the sources can be found here. it worked smooth and fine for the whole exhibition.

the physical part is made with a lamp, with adjustable light intensity and an analog radio, where the tuning is realized with the sensors through arduino. we tried to use flash filter lab to control the devices but at the moment we had problems with it during the performance, so it is in test version now.

of the developing process

at first, the tinker sensors were put in transparent plastic boxes, with one wire coming out of each. these can be easily connected to the system. we built an analog radio, where the voltage of the tuning potentiometer is controlled by arduino, so any selected sensor can do the job. (the same has been done with a simple table lamp)
